Zechariah Crabb of Wattisfield was the son of Samuel and Mary Crabb. Among his children were Zechariah (died unmarried), Thomas, Denny, George (author of books on education, later became a lawyer who never had much to do with the family, according to HCR). Zechariah Crabb also had three daughters: (1) Eliza (b. 1772), married a Mr Rankin of Hocking – one daughter married a Mr Gilbert who later settled in Australia; another married a Mr Stock, and another, Mary, married a Mr Rankin; Eliza also had two sons: Hugh of Essex and Alfred at Bocking, a non-practising attorney. (2) Mary, the second daughter of Zechariah, married a Mr Mottram, bank clerk at Norwich who worked for the Quaker Gurneys there; her daughter married her cousin Hugh Rankin. (3) Lucy, the youngest daughter of Zechariah, married a Mr Rolfe, living near Bocking, and whose son was an Anglican clergyman.
