Moses Savery, Bovey Tracey, to John Rippon, London, 31 August 1795.
Bovey Tracey Augst 31. 1795
Honord Sir,
I receiv’d your note with your very kind present for which, beg you will be pleas’d accept my very sincere thanks – I wrote you last April by Mrs Dunn but have since been inform’d that it was lost (with many others) on her way to London – I take this opportunity of saying that I have done every thing in my power to get a sight of Mr Meads papers but hitherto have been unsuccessful. I have no doubt but he has promis’d me twenty times and as often disappointed –
However I mean to make another trial and desire Mr Sprague to go with me and hope we shall prevail – I should have been very glad if you could have made it convenient to spend a few days with us nothing would have given us greater ^pleasure &^ satisfaction & hope when you come into this ^part of ye^ country again, you will do us that favor – You will be pleas’d to see the Number that attend the Gospel in such a country village – we have every reason to believe that Mr ^Sprague’s^ labors among us have been abundantly blest – Since his residence with us there are four candidates for Baptism and have reason to hope others will come forward as it appears evident that the work of grace is begun in the Heart of several. With my best wishes for the prospects of Zion I am Honor’d Sir
Your oblig’d friend & servt
Mos Savery
