Lady Anne Isabella Byron, Stratton Street, London, to Henry Crabb Robinson, [30 Russell Square, London], 1 July [1859].

Stratton St
July 1st (1859)
Dear Mr Robinson
I was anxious to have heard your critique on the Reading. The heat of the atmosphere & anxiety for a sick child, were unfavorable to the full display of Mrs Mair’s powers – but I apprehend that she was too much the drawing room Reader from her never having appeared before a large Audience. If you would like to judge of her tragic power, I would give you (contrary to the rule of no 2nd invitation) a card for her next reading – Macbeth on Monday.
Ever yours truly
A I: Noel Byron
