William Ward, Serampore, to Lucius Bolles, Salem, 23 April 1822.
Serampore, Apr. 23, 1822.
My dear Br
I have forwarded by Capt. Towne a few articles to several friends in America, & have committed them to your care, troubling you with their transmission at as little expense to the indivuals as possible.
I hae already written once since my return, & I hope it will not be long before I receive a line. Capt. Towne owned me at our chapel, & I rejoice in this opportunity of conveying to you & Mrs Bolles & all my Salem friends the assurances of an unalterable attachment. I received kindness from so many individuals, that I find it impossible to convey particular salutations to all.
We are here pretty well. Mr J. Marshman is gone to England; & since his departure Br. & Sister Marshman have been called to mourn over their eldest daughter, removed by death. She was a truly devoted Christian.
I am so pressed by incessant occupations that I am not able to write much. I hope I shall have more leisure when John Marshman returns. The state of our affairs you will perceive from the books sent.
Ever indeed Yrs
W. Ward
My best respects to Mr Mariarty.
