Dear Sir
I shall be happy to attend the Senate tomorrow – And also to dine if I can come to a right understanding I do not chuse to be treated for my Wine –
By the bye, if I mistake not I heard you once drop a hint about my becoming a member of the body or club or whatever you call it – Now anything of the sort I should think the very highest compliment that could be paid me; but still it cannot be
I am quite sure that this would in the opinion of certain members of the Council be an unconstitutional amalgamation of two distinct offices that ought to be absolutely distinct And give occasion to unfriendly suggestions perhaps to ever[y] proceedings
