J. D. Ellis, Lewes, Sussex, to Mr. William Stanger, [Baptist Mission House, London], 16 December 1842.
Lewes, Sussex
16th Dec 1842
My dear Sir,
I believe I am indebted to you for kindly sending on to me the Calcutta Missionary Heralds for August & September. Besides which I have received more from Calcutta since March last, so that I am still wanting in April, May, June and July of this year, and which have been possibly sent for me to Fen Court If so, may I trouble you to send them on [illegible word] under a cover just as you would a newspaper, for they come then postage free. I must also trouble you to enquire for me about the Bengal [illegible word] Overland Summary which is sent regularly for me to Fen Court; but in account of the uncertain state of my own health, it is addressed to Mr Tucker first. If on getting it monthly you will kindly see it addressed Rev. F. Tucker, at Oxford street, Manchester, I shall be obliged, and it will be forwarded on to me. All papers from the British Colonies and India circulate free, so that they only require to be put in the post office. As to any letters or papers at any time for me please to address Lewes, Sussex. Through the kindness of God I am again improving in health, although slowly. With kind regards to Mr Stanger sen and Mr Smith I am
Very sincerely yours
Jho. D Ellis
