Joseph Kinghorn, Norwich, to John Rippon, Southwark, 7 January 1793.
Dear Sir
I take this opportunity of asking you what I am to do with the remainder of your Funeral Sermons for Mr Ryland as Mr Trivet of North Walsham from whom I recd the parcell is dead & of course they cannot be returned that way. It never appeared likely they should sell here as neither you nor Mr Ryland are much known in this country & such publications seldom go off without some partiality either to the deceased or Author. I did not adopt your method of sticking up the advertisments [sic] at the meeting Houses as that is never done here they way did not appear eligible but I took what appeared to me a better way I exposed them at a Booksellers where they have been since I recd them but only 3 or 4 have sold. Shall I give the remainder to Mr Loyd to take into the country or to send to you? Please to give me your directions & I will discharge my little accot to him or to you in any way you may choose to appoint. I remain
Dear Sir
Yours sincerely
Jos Kinghorn
