Eustace Carey, Jr., Caen Villa, Appleton Widnes, to unnamed correspondent [most likely Thomas Raffles, Jr.?], 13 May 1879.
Dear Sir,
I think I have succeeded in finding the very letter of Dr Carey’s from which I took his autograph. I enclose it therefore, that you may add his signature which I sent you.
I have not succeeded in Mr Carey’s letter but enclose you one instead.
It was written to the dear daughter whom I have recently lost. You must excuse its being a family letter, but I have no others on which to lay my hands.
I have no correspondences of Mr Pearce nor Mr Knibb. Accept my thanks for your interesting little book. I have just been bereaved, & no doubt it will be applicable.
I am glad you were interested in our Memoir.
Believe me
Yours truly
E Carey
