William Wilberforce, Brighton, to Joseph Butterworth, Sr, 25 August 1807.
Wilberforce is thanking him for his help with the Yorkshire election, and all the Methodists who voted for him. Some were “misled by the utterly false Report of my havg formed a secret function with Mr Lascelles – are there any of them in London or any where else whom you know to have been particularly active in my behalf: I should be glad to know, that I might return my thanks to any of this description.”
