Henry Crabb Robinson, 3 King’s Bench Walk, Temple, to the Council of the London University, 21 March 1829.
Gentlemen
In answer to a letter addressed to the late Mr Anthony Robinson but directed to me as one of his Executors, I have to inform you, and I do so with regret, that the five shares taken by him must be forfeited As the Executors have not the means of paying up the arrears – And the payment made by Mr Robinson during his life was not large enough to render the shares of value at his death –
The Executors would have gladly exercised any discretion they had possessed, in favour of an institution to which their testator was strongly attached – But they have none – they are the less able to act according to their personal wishes, as their accounts will, it is highly probable, be laid before a court of equity.
This letter will probably prevent any further to application (I have received two letters before, which I thought had been answered) but if it were necessary to write again, I should request that any future letter might be addressed to T. Dixon Esqr – Boswell Court who is one of the Executors, And also the Solicitor of the Executors, to whom all accounts & letters of business ought to be addressed
I am Gentlemen
Your most obedt Servant
H. C. Robinson
