John Fawcett, Ewood Hall, Halifax, to John Rippon, London, 26 March 1800.
Sir,
I hope you have not forgot, that purely to oblige you, I sent you two paintings about five years ago, which you promised to return in two or three months. I have written several times about them without effect, & am sorry to be under the necessity of giving you this additional trouble, to request that you would be so good as to send them without further delay, as my family are very uneasy about them. I should not have been at the expence of the larger painting but on your account. The engravings in our Evangelical Magazine are neatly executed, & I could readily have mine done in the same manner, & for the same purpose, but I wished to oblige you. I humbly beg, however, that you will return the pictures, &c Sir,
Your sincere Friend
and obedt Servant
