George K. Prince, Isleham, to Joseph Angus, Baptist Mission, 6 Fen Court, Fenchurch Street, London, 8 February 1843.
Isleham—8th Febry 1843—
In the persuasion, Beloved Sir, that the Lord has guided me to the decision, I have now liberty to inform you that I am willing to return to Western Africa according to the desire of the Managing Committee of our Missionary Society—My design is to serve my Heavenly Master by making Him known to the Heathen & by rendering service to my Brothers in that peculiar calling in which he has called me—
One of the tokens of the divine pleasure concerning me in this matter, is the self denying obedience wrought by Him the Lord in the mind of my very dear wife; she has freely offered herself a willing sacrifice, & has laid down her material affections, & personal considerations upon the altar of the Lord our Righteousness, by whose mercies to her own soul she is constrained to present herself bodily, a lovely sacrifice unto Him who will recompense her abundantly—Unitedly we commit ourselves into his hands as into those of a faithful Creator, & trust that that Commitment is now made, & will be continually renewed, in well doing, to the praise of Him who looketh effectually in those called according to his purpose in Christ Jesus—
Our consideration of the arrangements preliminary & necessary to the fulfillment of the service now agreed to may be postponed till I shall can have the satisfaction of conferring with you: Meanwhile I take pleasure in relieving your mind of the anxious expectations in which you have with so politely & practically awaited the decision of your much obliged
Geo. K Prince
