My dear Brother,
I beg to thank you for forwarding to me the Calcutta Missionary Herald for Scholars, the interesting intelligence of which gave me feelings of great joy. And not only the accounts of the Jubilee meetings were so delightful, but in a letter to me Mr Thomas speaks confidently of the proposed union of Serampore College with the Society as having met the most cheerful acceptance approval of the brethren in Calcutta, and also of the union of the native churches in Bengal a thing which I think is of great promise. As to myself I have to thank the Father of mercies that I continue to improve, although slowly, and some of my symptoms are certainly better than at any period since I have been in England. My way has been indeed dark, and my mind would oftentimes have sunk had it not been for Divine support and the many precious promises of God’s holy word. With kind Xtian regards to any enquiring friends, I am
Yours Affecty
Jho. D Ellis
