W. G. Fifield to Alexander C. Mclaren, 11 April 1862.
My dear Sir,
Allow me to thank you for the invitation to be present at your recognition service on Monday next.
I am afraid however I shall not be able to be present with you on Tuesday. I am preaching at Salford next Sunday, & in all likelihood shall remain there on the Monday. I should have been glad to have met with you, for as I have resigned my pastorate here, I shall not have [further?] opportunities of seeing you. I do not however intend leaving this town for some time—Allow me to congratulate you on your Settlement, & to express my hope that it may be for the mutual benefit of yourself & the Church.
[?]
Very Sincerely Yours,
W. G. Fifield
Rev:d A. C. Maclaren.
