Wilhelm Benecke, Jr., Hastings, to Henry Crabb Robinson, London, 28 July 1841.
28 July 1841
My dear Sir
I send you this beautiful sheet to make up for the miserable pen, with which I am obliged to write. We were very sorry indeed to have left London without seeing you again, particularly as Miss [Tensbury?] was sorry that you should have called to see her once more I could not [?] wondering what had become of you. We have already written to her, that you half intend her a visit at Manchester. We have been much pleased to hear that you are making plans for the South as well as the North, and that there is a chance of your coming here during our stay. I hope you will not delay it too long, for we shall not be allowed to prolong our stay beyond next Monday sennight. –
With regard to the £50 bill for D v Knebel I have requested Mr Steinkoff to hand it over to you with this letter. I think there is no <–> doubt of its reaching him if you simply address your letter to Ems, M Steinkoff however can, if you wish it, send the bill to our friends Pfender & Schmer at Coblence, where you can direct Mr v Knebel to call first, Coblence being only half an hours distance from Ems
Pray excuse this writing which I hope may prove legible and with Mrs Beneckes kindest regards, believe me, my dear sir,
Yours very faithfully
W Benecke.
