Henry Crabb Robinson, 3 King’s Bench Walk, London, to Thomas Carlyle, [Myddleton Terrace], 22 July 1824.
Dear Sir:
I send you the Wanderjahre which I have obtained from my friend Mr Aders –
I wish I could materially assist you in procuring you materials for your life of Schiller but it is wholly out of my power now – Perhaps in Autumn I might – That is, I shall be able then to make enquiries of my German friends now abroad – Göthes Morphologie is in circulation in a German book-club And it contains a memorable article about the origin of Gothes & Schiller’s intimacy well worth translation I dare say I could obtain it for you on my return in October –
I left Germany in 1805 And my knowledge of the literature of the day since that period amounts to nothing – I shall remain in town till Sunday – I mean to call in Myddleton Terrace to day or tomorrow if possible –
Very truly Your’s
H. C. Robinson
