Dear Dr Allan,
I should be much pleased if you could come over to the Hockwell Orphanage on June 22, Wednesday, and give us a short speech.
I will not say that you are in my debt; but I will say that you did me the honour to allow me to preach at ye opening, & therefore I am bold to ask the further favour of your presence at this, my birthday fête, for the orphans. Hugh Mason takes the chair.
Long life & health to the Archbishop of the Independants – may he be thrice Lord Mayor of Congregationalism.
Yours heartily
C. H. Spurgeon
