John Sandys, [Tottlebank], to the Managers of the Particular Baptist Fund, London, undated [c. 1769].
To the Ministers and Managers of the Particular Baptist Fund London
Revd Sirs and Gentlemen.
I again presume upon your Clemency in renewing my Address which my Friend Mr Ryland directed me to make some Months ago therein soliciting your kind Regards and Assistance in my pursuit of human and divine Literature as a necessary prerequisite to the sacred work of the Ministry.
With respect to the Queries in Mr Robinson’s letter, I answer in the affirmative – I am a Member of the Particular Baptist Church at Tottlebank in Lancashire – I was baptized Octr 18. 1767 on a profession of faith in and Love to Jesus Christ by Mr Kettilby, the worthy pastor of that Church, and hold particular Redemption, the final perseverance of the saints, the unchangeable love of God to his people.
As to having exercised or at present having Abilities for it, perhaps I cannot give such a satisfactory Answer as you or I myself could desire which at present not a little discourages me – I am disposed to comply with what you shall think best, whether to decline it or otherwise – Your answer in a short time will truly oblige
Gentlemen
Your devoted Servant
John Sandys
