William Brock, Jr., Hampstead, to unnamed correspondent, 16 May 1864.
My dear Sir,
I am very glad to hear from my friend Mr Harvey that there is some prospect of your kindly coming to preach for us on the pleasant occasion of the extinction of our Debt.
We have fixed Thursday, June 9th, in accordance with your wish that we should name a day---and if it is possible for you to spare us an hour or two in the afternoon, I need not say what pleasure it would give to many here who have few opportunities of hearing you. We do not propose taking any Collection---tho [?] would b e [?] are of thanksgiving to God.
I will take the liberty of calling at your house early tomorrow (Tuesday) morning---and perhaps if you are not at home then, you would kindly leave me a single word of answer.
I am, my dear Sir,
Yours respectfully,
W. Brock Jun.r
