Henry Crabb Robinson, 30 Russell Square, to W. A. Case, 16 July [?].
My dear Sir
I cannot with propriety attend the meeting to day – because I mean to give what I can at present give to the M: N: Coll and not to the Un: H: were the Subj.s I mean for the M: N: C. given to the U H I would with pleasure attend and do my best –
Among the objects of satire & ridicule [f. 106v] I know none more deserving than those who are active in making others subscribe – reminding one of the old French mot – founded on the Generals War – [Org?]
Marchez and \Marchous
I wish I could be with you to day –
I shall leave town on Tuesday –
[f.107r] I shall leave this note at the Hall on my way westward.
I ought not to write what I have done without adding with perfect sincerity that I consider those who like you have given your valuable time & labours as by far the most generous of our benefactors –
&c &c &c
H. C. Robinson
W. A. Case Esqr
