98 Gracechurch St
17th March 1843
Dear Sir
You will perceive by the above that I have embark’d on a business in which your kind recommendation may at times be of much service & I hardly need add that I would do my best to deserve it—
I have started with Captn Wimble (formerly of the “London” and “Maidstone”) as Ship and Insurance Brokers & although we have just at present only East India Ships—yet we are prepared to do our best for any friends that may give us an opportunity with reference to any part of the World.
I enclose Cards of our India Ships & shall feel obliged by your placing [them] any where under the notice of those who may by any probability be looking thitherward.
May I request the favor of your handing the accompanying note to my kind friend Mr Gurney—just stating the substance of the above
With respects to Mrs A.
I am My dear Sir
Yours faithfully
F. Allport
