Richard Price, Newington Green, to John Rippon, 12 April 1785. [copy]
Newington Green Apl 12. 1785.
Dear Sir,
I am obliged to you for these papers and for the letter to Mr Rippon. There are some parts of them with which I am much pleased; but what is intimated in them concerning an attempt to oblige the Baptists to contribute towards supporting a religious Worship from which they dissent gives me much concern. Nothing can be more inconsistent with religious liberty; and it is also contrary to the declaration of rights which forms the foundation of the Massachusetts constitution. – I shall be in London on Thursday and shall call at Mr Dilley’s about 2 oClock; and shoud [sic] you happen to be there I shall be glad to meet you. With all good wishes I am
Yours
Richd Price
