Theophilus Lindsey, London, to Russell Scott, Portsmouth, [Saturday] 14 June 1788.
Dear Sir,
I was glad to have such a good account of you in all respects as Mr Jellico favoured me with, who is one of your great well-wishers. I hope you recd a letter from me before you went to Portsmouth. I send this to desire that when you write to your sister you will please to say for me that my congratulations would have attended her for the present of her Messiah, and on her marriage, but that I did not know where to convey them, as I heard she had left Milbourne-Port, though I ordered one of my books to be sent, which perhaps she may some day or other have recd. If Mr Temple be still at Portsmouth I beg you wd present our best compts to him and mine to Mr Jellicoe. When you have leisure to write a full acct of yourself and situation I shall be glad to hear from you.
always most sincerely Yours
T. Lindsey
